Simple equals loads of flavor
I’ve gone the gamut of eating and preparing all kinds of food in my life time. From spicy to sauces, deep fat fried, and breaded. As I’ve aged and mellowed I’ve come to realize simple is best for great flavor and nutrition as well as keeping a healthy body. This earth is loaded with the…

Okra incoming….
There is a wonderful advantage to living in the deep south. Okra is a delicious food packed with vitamins and fiber that thrives in hot humid climates and we have plenty of that here. Local crops are coming in hot and heavy right now so it is available in abundance. We have a friend that…

Organization is my Thing!
So I have always admitted I have strong OCD tenancies. I’m not OCD but yes the tendencies are there. That is not really a bad thing. I am comfortable with people that don’t have these tendencies and have no issues at all with my clutter loving friends. Just in my own house I need organized…

When Fried is Good for you
It is very rare that I eat fried foods, especially deep fried. There is nothing healthy about saturating food coated in white enriched flour with vegetable oil till it drips with it. Another year
….of canning fig preserves came to a close today. I managed 50.5 pints preserves and 6 pint syrup as the final total. That’s a couple pints short from last year but I still have 6 of those pints left so there are plenty. I’m just not certain we will get a second harvest to share…

Nutrition fast and delicious
I’ll never understand why people prefer packaged processed food over fresh home-cooked. I see absolutely no advantages and this comes from someone who raised and cooked regularly for a family of four. We had active schedules with band, cross country track, ballet, karate for the two children on top of simply living an active family…

Grill time!
Today has been pretty much a do nothing day. Not a bad thing. We slept in….. anything over 7.5 to 8 hours is sleeping in for me. Today I got 9 hours! Picked a few figs, then prepared breakfast while Randy got his morning shower. I’m almost finished with that large knit project and continued…

Ready or not here they come!
I knew it would be soon. I’ve been monitoring every couple days. Today was a rare moment of ME time while hubby was gone to physical therapy. We are back into our normal north east Alabama summer weather thank goodness. The horrid horrid intense humidity and heat seem to have left the area. So I…
