We love clocks in our home. There is an old simple Mission style long case clock my brother gifted me years ago around 2000 that stands in the dining area.

It is very dear to my ❤️ and will be cherished all my life. There is also a chiming wall clock in the living room and a mantle clock in the downstairs den. I love the calming tick tocking when the house is quiet. It’s funny how we rarely actually notice the sound unless particularly paying attention. Even the wall clock that hung for years next to our bed until it stopped running didn’t interrupt our sleep. It was like an orchestra during the day as the hour and half hour struck in tandem on all of them.
I remember a song I loved to sing as a child called “My Granfather’s Clock” . My husband mentioned it at breakfast this morning, and I immediately went searching for the lyrics and the tune. I could hear it in my head the minute he brought it to mind.
In that search, I found the history of not only the song but the beloved grandfather clock as well! Little did I know the origin of the song nor the rich history of the Granfather clock that started in England many, many years ago. The link above is an amazing, heart tugging read. We are never too old to learn something new.
