Christmas projects

I can now post about two protects I worked on this year for Christmas presents. I had to keep quiet until I was able to gift them to my brother and his wife. So here they are.

First, I knitted my brother and sister in law a throw using University of Alabama colors. They are huge fans, and this sampler throw from the Building with color book from an absolutely wonderful lady’s website was perfect. Her building block book series is what I used to teach myself to knit. This sampler has near every fancy stitch pattern you can come up with that displayed the color choices perfectly.

They were so excited to receive it for Christmas.

I’ve been sketching again after nearly 40 years or so. My brother loved a sketch I did of the American flag behind an eagle. I knew how badly he wanted it, but I really wanted to keep the original. So, this was my first attempt at freehand sketching something more than once. There are very slight differences, of course, as no two hand drawn items will ever be identical. I am extremely pleased with the end result. I even noticed my dear brother got choked up when he read the personal note on the back of it. There is something deeply satisfying about giving and receiving handmade gifts.

I have several ideas bouncing around in my mind for next year’s gifts. So I probably need to get busy😁.
