As Promised

I’ve eluded to a large knit project CT in working on in a few of my previous posts. I completed weaving in the final yarn tail earlier today. So I’m ready to show it now. I’ve been in a perpetual learning stage of teaching myself to knit for about 4 years or so now. I have a friend that is a lifelong proficient knitter that is also my mentor when I need a real live person to talk me through something I just can’t grasp from reading or videos. I gladly call her my mentor.

The books and videos she suggested from the beginning is from a master knitter Michelle Hunter. Her work is absolutely stunning and her videos are extremely easy to understand. I highly recommended her site and books ff ever you want to learn to knit or are already knitting and looking for great patterns.

After creating a scarf with a simple knit 2, purl 2 pattern to learn the basics, I grabbed her building blocks of knitting trio of instruction books and proceeded to learn. I dove in head first on the building with lace book to knit a magnificent long lace beaded wrap.

Then I tackled decorative stitch knitting with each block being a different stitch.

I held off on the building with color thinking it would be the most difficult with all the color changes and using 3 skeins at one time! I guess after all the other items I’ve knit at the same time….have I mentioned I’m a bit of a multitasker, always working on things simultaneously, even reading more than one book at a time…… as I was knitting these projects, including a couple sweaters for me and one for my hubby, my learning curve of understanding knitting terminology and comfort level working with varied needle size and yarn type had improved vastly. It actually became one of the most relaxing and fun projects to work. This is the colorwork throw worked as individual panels that are seamed together then bordered as a whole.

That’s Hamish the Hairy Coo snuggled with the throw 😍😁😍

It is a good sized throw made of superwash merino wool. The colorwork makes it very thick, warm and comfy.

Now I’m ready to add another project to my schedule. I’m still working on the Lady Guinevere chain mail scarf. I will be adding a beautiful green and blue throw to the mix that is planned as a gift.

In the words of Michelle Hunter………. Happy knitting!
