Today has been pretty much a do nothing day. Not a bad thing. We slept in….. anything over 7.5 to 8 hours is sleeping in for me. Today I got 9 hours! Picked a few figs, then prepared breakfast while Randy got his morning shower. I’m almost finished with that large knit project and continued binding off this afternoon. One more short side to bind off then I promise there will be photos. It was peaceful knitting while listening to Justin Bryne album The Rest of Life on Spotify.
Decided to go out and and dig up some of the constant, insistent bayberry shoots and found that even through the intense heat and little rain, the swamp lilies are starting to bloom.

Then it was time to head in and get dinner on the table. Grill time it is! We love our grills in the south and will usually cook on them 90% of the time except maybe in the worst of winter. I had laid out a couple large pork chops this morning that are always much better grilled than oven baked. Minimal seasoning of gun powder season 😁. It is a mixture of spices with salt and pepper and actually really looks like gun powder.

I stripped a couple corn cobs for fried corn and made a small fresh salad to complete the meal.

I figured that was plenty enough because we had one more serving of that amazing flourless chocolate cake in the freezer for dessert!

French press brewed fresh cups of our amazing Nicaraguan coffee were all we needed to complete an amazing natural fresh nutritious meal.
One more trip outside to harvest figs after the sun sets and I’m done for the day. Thinking an evening of reading One Second After is in order. Great book by the way, if you haven’t read it.
