Scottish Fantasy

I’ve been told I am not your average female because I never have been a shopper and never ever an impulse buyer.  My shopping preference is have a list, get in, get out. There are two places I actually do enjoy browsing and that is hardware and landscape shops. I love a proper tool for a job and planning home improvement and landscape projects.

Last fall I was wandering through a landscape shop and came upon a few pots of day lilies with no blooms and only a picture price tag that gave any hint of the type plant the pot contained. While I really love day lilies of all manner, and the photo was quite pleasing, it was by far the name that caught my attention!

They were called Scottish Fantasy! Oh my ❤️ how I miss my Bonnie Scotland. This was definitely an impulse purchase at a very decent price. Without knowledge of where I planned to plant them or when, I quickly snatched up 3 very full pots. They landed in their permanent home in the new front garden I’ve been cultivating for the last year. Time passed, more plants were purchased as I felt moved and I actually forgot the details of these lilies……….. until recently when they bloomed. I had noticed some massive lilies in the garden, extremely tall, full of buds on top of stalks larger diameter than a dime. I just couldn’t remember if they were transplanted from a friend or a purchase I had made.

I have to say, of all the flowers I’ve planted this last year, these have outshown them all in their majesty. The blooms are larger than my hand and uniquely colored with ruffled edges. What a perfect name they have. I’ve seen sunsets and rises this color in the Scotland highlands.
