I have always loved gardening and house plants and have several very large indoor plants from many years ago. These last two years I’ve taken the time to expand my love of flowers into the landscape around the house. My intent is to create low maintenance high impact perennial gardens and paths out of the vast majority of grass to decrease lawn mowing time. I’m seeing the fruits of my labor this spring with more to come over the summer. One of my most favorite plants I got from a friend whose lilies were in dire need of thinning out. I hadn’t seen them in bloom so was completely blown away when they started a couple weeks ago. I planted several along the walkway to the downstairs entrance. Now they are bursting in massive bright yellow flowers. The originals were given to my friend by a master gardener. He said they are called Mary Todd’s after President Lincolns wife. I’m proud to have these growing in my yard as I have not seen them at any local garden shop. I will seperate and spread them throughout the yard as they propagate and multiply the next few years.
